Hitsugi no Chaika Season 2 This Fall?

A tweet from creators talking about continuation of the surprise hit (for me at least) series, Hitsugi no Chaika (Chaika's Coffin).

There you have it, I am surprised that the possibility of Hitsugi no Chaika sequel is mulled so soon. If everything goes well, we might see a sequel of this series?

Personally I liked the series not for the albino girl but the male lead that is not annoying at all.

Sneak Preview of 2nd Fight of Fate/Stay Night 2014 Reboot. HOLY CRAP.

My....my inner geek is screaming with luscious joy and bloodlust. Just look at the animation of the 1st fight! The clip is married with audio from the Realta Nua PS3 visual novel. The fight looks really good, this is what I imagine how the fight look like between Servants when I read the visual novel back in 2005/6.

Studio Deen's version look so amateurish compared to this! Wow.

Correction: Okay, this is 2nd fight of the story. Sorry.

Updates on Madoka movie project

Looks like new Madoka project will have 3 segments. 2 will TV series compilations and final one will be completely new story. Sequel, prequel or whatever for new story, I do not know. Personally I think this is a rather crass attempt to milk the franchise for its worth but I got hand it to them, it is the most successful anime in commercial sense this year. Let's just hope they do not overstay their welcome here.

Magica Magi Puella Madoka prequel?

Well a prequel to the already legendary series is in the works, the story focuses more on exploits of senior magis; Kyoko and Mami. Titled Magica Magi Puella Riko, it looks more like a manga instead of a spin off TV series. The new girl, Riko should be main character here. I don't know if there is any plan to adapt it to TV or anything though. Also I do wonder if the tone for this is as dark as the main series.

One of the most beautiful anime OP I ever seen so far.

One of the most beautiful anime OP I ever laid my eyes on. Right music, right animation, right feel. What a nostalgic feel to watch this again. The Record of Lodoss War TV, made somewhere in late 90s.

However the TV series is mediocre at best, did not live up the magic feel of the OVA or this promising OP.

Fate Zero anime and manga confirmed! Yes!

TYPEMOON and Ufotable has confirmed the adaptation of Fate Zero as anime and manga! YES! Finally after years of speculation, my prediction came out as reality. So far no news on casting, movie/OAD/TV series is out yet but it will be revealed May 2011 issue TYPEMOON ACE Vol 6. Director is Ei Aoki (あおき えい) whereas character designer by Tomonori Sudou (須藤友徳)and Atsushi Ikariya (碇谷敦).

After awesome work on Kara no Kyokai, I was hoping Ufotable will be doing more TYPEMOON stories and I was right. This time, I predicted fans will like charismatic and manly Rider (Alexander The Great) and very stern, serious Saber. Shirou's foster father will the main driving character for this story. Here we can see how ruthless and cold man he is, much to Saber's disapproval.

Penned by Nitroplus Gen Urobuchi, it is more action packed compared to more mystical and obtuse Kinoko Nasu.

Hell yeah.

Unlimited Blade Works Movie on 23 January 2010

1 more month to Fate movie and poster is already released to announce its coming. I still have doubts about it since the production is the same as the series which not consistent in art direction and some weird scenes (the CG dragon). Slated for 23rd January 2010 release in Japan. The official site have the proper trailer up and looks spiffy.

I wonder how they going to compress the story into movie format to be honest. But heck, I looking forward to see the sword spam between Shirou and Gilgamesh anyway.

Break Blade / ブレイクブレイド anime series trailer is out

I have been reading the manga and it is not bad. I liked the clean art and gritty mecha designs with some Escaflowne taint thrown in. However, I am kinda skeptical on how the anime will able to bring out the story to shine, I am pretty suspicious that it will be another hanging ending type of story since AFAIK, the manga yet to be finished in Japan at the time of this entry was made. There is going to be 6 movies. XEBEC and Production I.G will be tasked in making of the movies, directed by the Fafner guy, Nobuyoshi Hara. (oh no, emo time?) Supervisory Director will be the dude who did Macross 7 (bleh!) and Starship Trooper OVA Tetsuro Amino.

Why I have a feeling that it will be emo pilots with some dosage of music thrown in for good measure while piloting semi realistic mecha? And why they need a Supervisory Director? Sounds like they can't trust the Fafner guy not to emo too much perhaps?

The story centered on tragedy of friendship been torn apart by politics and history, spiced with mecha that runs on magic except for one. The battle scenes in manga is a bit Gundamsque with emphasis on speed and "dueling" as primary combat actions, not really militaristic squad based mecha action like Gasaraki or FLAG.

Let's see how it turns out.

Sacred Blacksmith / 聖剣の刀鍛冶 utter bullshit on katana superiority

I am quite irritated by this trope of Japanese sword is better than Western sword which many, many anime series love to perpetuate. Latest of this is the underwhelming fantasy anime series based on light novels by Isau Miura which is now animated by Mangalobe; Sacred Blacksmith. There is even a scene where the katana cuts thru an axe (!) where the heroine's heirloom longsword broke against it earlier.

Sacred Blacksmith, a new sucky anime series by Mangalobe (Samurai Champloo, Michiko no Hatchin) touting the virtues of katana sword over blunt, European styled longsword. Which is not true. Look below for why I said so:

See? The European longsword might need little more force but it cuts thru the tamesghiri (straw mats) just as effectively as the katana. So the whole fact of "katana is superior than Western longsword" is utter BS. What is more ironic that the katana is often a secondary weapon of real samurai during the civil wars, they prefer to use bow, spears or later on, arquebus to fight in battlefield.

Here is the CONCLUSIVE evidence of the fact, katana versus longsword side by side against the same target:

There? I rest my case now. Oh, Sacred Blacksmith manga is more entertaining than the anime to be honest.
